The shipbuilder Harland & Wolff has been forced to temporarily suspend trading in its shares after accounting issues meant it was unable to file audited accounts on time.

The Aim-listed company, which owns the shipyard where the Titanic was built, said on Monday that it would suspend trading with immediate effect because accounts had not been filed.

US aircraft maker reverses decision it made nearly 20 years ago to outsource part of production amid safety crisis

Boeing has agreed a $4.7bn (ยฃ3.7bn) deal to buy the parts supplier it sold nearly 20 years ago, as it seeks to improve safety on its production lines after a panel blew off an Alaska Airlines-operated plane mid-flight earlier this year.

The under-pressure US planemaker will buy Spirit Aerosystems, which supplies it with fuselage and wing parts, as it attempts to improve safety and quality in its manufacturing processes.

The owner of the Port Talbot steelworks has written to trade unions offering fresh talks amid a battle to delay plans to cut 2,800 jobs and suspend production at a site that has been in operation since 1951.

The Guardian understands that a letter sent on Sunday afternoon by Rajesh Nair, the UK boss of Tata Steel, has offered a new round of discussions about future investments at the companyโ€™s plants in the UK, including Port Talbot.

UK and EU horticulture firms warn of harm caused by post-Brexit border delays

Nursery and garden centre trade bodies write open letter saying problems at border need to be urgently fixed

Nurseries and garden centres across Britain and Europe have warned that new post-Brexit border posts are not working properly and are leading to delays, damage and significant extra costs for importers bringing plants into Britain.

The Horticultural Trade Association, which represents 1,400 garden retailers and growers in the UK, has joined forces with several European trade bodies to write an open letter to call for urgent solutions, warning the new system was adding more than 25% to import costs.

British Chambers of Commerce director general calls on politicians to improve ties with EU and strike better deal

The UKโ€™s current trade deal with the EU is not working and the country must stop โ€œwalking on eggshellsโ€ around the issue of building closer ties with its biggest trading partner, the director general of the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) is expected to say.

At the annual BCC global conference in London on Thursday, Shevaun Haviland will say that the UK must forge closer ties with the EU and the next government should focus on improving trading relations to grow the economy.
