Former neonatal nurse proclaims innocence from dock as she is sentenced for attempted murder of newborn baby

Lucy Letby cried from the dock β€œI’m innocent” after she was sentenced to a whole-life order for attempting to kill a newborn girl in what the judge called a β€œshocking act of calculated, callous cruelty”.

The former neonatal nurse made the remark as she was taken to the court cells after being sentenced.

Coroner finds Jessica Baker, 15, died from head injury after driver collapsed at wheel on M53

A teenage girl who died when her school bus crashed on a motorway was one of the few people onboard wearing a seatbelt, an inquest has heard.

Jessica Baker, 15, was dressed for a morning PE class at West Kirby grammar school in Wirral, Merseyside, when the coach crashed on the northbound M53 just after 8am on 29 September last year.

Lucy Letby found guilty of trying to kill two-hour-old baby

Former neonatal nurse convicted on retrial after jury at original trial was unable to reach verdict

Lucy Letby has been found guilty of trying to kill a two-hour-old baby girl on the hospital ward where she murdered seven other infants.

The β€œcold-blooded, calculated killer”, who is serving 14 whole-life prison terms, was convicted on Tuesday of attempting to murder the β€œextremely premature” infant after a retrial at Manchester crown court.
